Maryland's Sixth District is featuring a five-way Democratic Congressional primary this year, with Robin Deibert of Hagerstown, Jennifer Dougherty of Frederick, Andrew Duck of Brunswick, Rick Lank of Middletown, and Larry Smith of Cumberland all contending for the Democratic nomination to challenge seven-term Republican wingnut incumbent Roscoe Bartlett. On Wednesday, February 6th at 7PM, all five candidates will be participating in a forum to be held at the Jack B. Kussmaul Theater at Frederick Community College. Issues to be discussed include the Iraq war, the White House's endorsement of torture, global warming, immigration, labor and the economy, health care, and a few others of Sixth District interest. Every candidate will be given the opportunity to tell the public why he or she is a Democrat -- a great way to prescreen potential Bush Dogs! Special thanks to the FCC College Democrats for their efforts in putting this forum together. The forum is being co-sponsored by the Sierra Club and the AFL-CIO. Frederick Board of Education candidates Angie Fish and Robert Oland will be introduced to the public at the forum as well. Hope to see you there! Let's pick off Roscoe Bartlett's seat! |
